    My husband raved about this series for the longest time so I finally started reading this book (in September of last year). I had a very hard time getting through the first few chapters, though I'm not sure why. I don't think it was the content, but rather the style. I actually set the book aside for several months and just picked it back up a month ago.     As stated by another reader this book takes the beliefs and lessons of the Judo-Christian religion and packages it in a fantasy world that works on different rules.

    Thomas Covenant the main character of the book is a writer that develops leprosy. Because of this his wife leaves him and takes their son.
