Anyone else love the book but hate the epiloge?
Would ye all read The Chronicles of Prydian (5 book set about Taran the assistant pig keeper) written by Alexander Lloyd (or Lloyd Alexander) in 1960's. I loved Harry and all the books, Askaban is my favourite. Would have liked a chapter after teh battle to see how everyone got on to cry a little over the lost ones and see how people put their lives back together. But aside from all that, loved HArry but I love Taran even more, much more depth in the charachter and you see him grow and change through teh 5 books. Would love to know what other Harry Fans think

I think the Epilogue is absolutely necessary. Maybe it is my age, but there is something comforting in knowing Harry with his family. The compassion and tolerance for good Slitherins is a necessary lesson for young readers who get caught up in nationalistic ideals that we train into kids when we teach them to love their own and to others X in little league or pee wee football and soccer, and I think young readers will appreciate it more as they age.
Michael Burns 9 months agoHarry Potter is the Best. Okay 'Albus Severus' totally killed it for me. I mean, who names or WHO WOULD NAME their kid, 'Albus Severus'? But anyway, regardless of the sort-of cheesy epilogue, I'm still glad JKR gave us that. I mean, at least she opened up yet another room for us to wonder what happens to the next.... The intrigue, for me was still there. I don't know, I guess I'll eat up whatever JKR writes.
Czher Acampado 9 months agoI thought it was the best of the books but like many of you would have liked it if they would have just left the epilge out and let me think of what happened later on. but i also thought rowling was going to kill off harry at the end and i would have been ok with that but she chose to end it her way and so i guess we'll have to deal with it.
Chris Kosiak 9 months agothis is so true! The epilogue was awfull it looked like a silly thing from movies. Everything had to lead to an happy ending and the names of the kids are ridiculous!...
Anonymous User 9 months agoI was so pissed about the epilogue. I actually got angry at how corny and not cool it was. I could have done without it.
Jessica 9 months agoI enjoyed the epilogue; I wanted to know what happened to them
David Wickham 8 months agome too, it was good to find out what happened to them
Facebook User 8 months agoI definetely wanted to know what had happened to them, maybe we would all be discussing that we hated not knowing what happened if their wasn't an epiloge, It felt like the end was stuck in by someone else at the last minute, I would of preferred if everything was just kept unsaid or more of a mystery behind it.
Lily 7 months agoPersonally, I liked it. It puts a quiet but happy end to the story that actually kind of depressed me when I realized that this was truly it, the end of the ride.
Jonathan 7 months agoi hated the epilogue.... it wasn't what i expected... so much... its just hanging... my imagination... doesn't fulfill it... though the kids were really cute... somehow, i wished that Draco and Harry would have been friends... at least... Harry saved Malfoy last time... and for me, Draco isn't that really bad... hope Rose and Scorpius will be friends... hehehe just wishing...

Rosalinda Mendez 6 months agoWas it illuminating? No. But compared with the completely banal, "...and they lived happily ever after," it serves. Besides, when there's a lack of tension, Rowling tends to wander.
Nick Remy 6 months agoIt was definately over the top. I agree that yes it concluded the books so that J.K. Rowling wasn't able to write an 8th book (or at least would have made it harder on herself to do so), but it seemed way too cheezy and didn't fit in with the rest of the book. The names of their children is what did it for me. Totally unnecessary and completely ridiculous.
Facebook User 6 months agoI felt like it was just tacked on to the end. AND it was just a "and they all lived happily ever after" so that there couldn't be any more books written.
Carly 6 months agoThe book was excellent though
I hated the epilogue. It felt like it was completely out of place and unnecessary. It kind of reminded me of fan fiction writing.
Rebecca Dewey 6 months agoi laughed throughout the epilogue. rather, i laughed AND cried because i didn't know what to make of it. i wish it wasn't included
Katherine 6 months agoI agree the epilogue could have been a lot better, it almost left you with a feeling that the book wasn't really over.
Kim Marshall 6 months agoActually, I didn't mind it. I think its "cheesiness" only seems major because the books up until that point are so dark. If I had written something that had the scope and readership and -- lets be honest -- worth of the Harry Potter series, I would definitely throw an epic, loose end tying, happy ending on, if only to guard the characters from being tampered with in the future.
No one likes tight happy endings anymore. They're all into hyper realistic, mirrored life endings. This is an epic fairytale book for a younger generation, and I think there's something classic about a happy ending.
Had to be done.
Andy 5 months agoYeah, the epilogue felt sort of tacked on at the last minute and basically a ham-fisted attempt at giving Harry a happy ending.
