  • Not sure what to call this...

One of my favorite things in the Harry Potter books was how something that was so small in one of the first books matters so much at the end. For instance, the deluminator is mentioned within the first 6 pages of the first book and plays a pretty big role in the last book. Another is how it was so natural for Harry to ride a broomstick in the first book, but in the last book we see the picture of him riding one when he was a baby, so it wasn't really his first time OR the first broom that Sirius gave to him. What are your favorite things that are mentioned that reappear later in the story? J.K. Rowling must have TONS of notebooks filled with notes on all this stuff. She's incredible.

Good one! One thing I wished I'd picked up on sooner was the connection between Aberforth Dumbledore's disgrace and the weird smell in the Hog's Head!!! For some reason a lot of people thought this was really obvious, but I completely missed it...

One of the little things in the books that i really liked was how Harry first came to Privet drive on Sirius' bike and how he also left there in the last book on it. All the connections in all the books is really good writing

Well, the chapter of the first book, 'The Boy Who Lived' is pretty much the ultimate in foreshadowing, with Harry's survival in the Forbidden Forest and everything. I mean, what other book 'gives the end away' in the first chapter?

It's amazing that, over a decade later, JKR says the book ends exactly as it was planned to. I think this is one of the things that has so many of us obsessed over harry and his friends- the fact that these books are so comprehensive and provide an amazing amount of details of the Wizarding World.

That being said, I think that JKR primed us to be paranoid about every detail lol. It bred thousands of wacky theories because "JK MENTIONED THIS SO IT MUST COME INTO PLAY LATER!" I'm guilty of this as well. I could NOT give up the idea that Mrs Norris was an animagus because she showed up on the Maruader's Map. She's trained us through these years to really pay attention to the details... Maybe too much attention.
