  • Does anyone else think Harry Potter 7 was rubbish?

I think this book could have been alot better. I thought it was just too unrealistic, even for a Harry Potter book. And also, the ending sucked, and the epilogue sucked ass too. If shee would have just left that out the book would have been a bunch better.

well i wouldnt call it rubbish, and when a good deep character dies it'd realistic and not negative. what i hated about the book was those mushy last 30 pages.
and how some things just didnt add up.
the way hed escape some of the situations was just weird n so chaotic and fast.
not a worthy ending, but still a good book.

I have been getting more and more disappointed with the series ever since the goblet of fire. Truth be told I only read this book because I wanted to make sure that it was really over with. I loved the base story (Hogwarts and the wizarding world) when I started reading and I still do but the characters' development sucked so very hard. It just seems that Rowling wrote better when she was writing books and not movies.

Holy crap I can't even believe you guys think that. The series is not based at hogwarts. It's called 'Harry Potter' not 'Harry potters hogwarts life" come on guys. it was a BRILLIANT conclusion to the series. perfect in every way. I don't understand how you guys could be disappointed with this book. This discussion deeply depresses me.

I was slightly uspet with the way she introduces a new plot device, (The Hallows) from out of nowhere, and then uses these things that she has never before referenced to neatly tie up the story. it seemed kinda forced. In a series like this, you want to sublty hint at the existence of these things, from the very first book. Either she is way to subtle for me, or she had to grasp at straws. I also didnt like the cookie cutter happily ever after ending, at the train station, kinda thought that was a bit much. All of the people that died, didnt really effect me, because that is inevitable in a story where the villian continually grows in power until the final confrontation. Actually i would have been more upset, if people hadnt died.

God, most people here are a bunch of idiots, with no understanding of life experience, or how that works. Did you or did you nor spend the whole series 'being' Harry, or one of his friends? If so, you would understand perfectly why a suburban married lifestyle at the end was right for him. And just because you didn't 'get' the bit about the sword - that hardly qualifies this as a bad book - just you as a prat.
I was a little disappointed that two of the most important deaths were not written into the story, and as for Harry not being hurt... he bloody died, you twat! Learn about Samurai mythology before you dis that.
My point is, 99% of the criticisms here are from ignorance or prejudice. If you don't like it, piss off and write a series of seven books that sells quikcer than anything else and gets made into movies.

i though the book was pretty good. It was engaging and i liked what happened. I just though it was so boring how she went through the whole dumbledore issues. I couldnt care less about reading it, i literally skipped a few pages because that section was just a yawn fest for me. Other then that, it was a good wrap up to the series. i though it was an excellent series.

Haha. It's so funny reading these posts about what you think about the book 7. I totally agree to some of you, the title is NOT Hogwarts. Its Harry Potter. You can't expect the boy with such responsibility to stay in a wizarding school and stuck his nose in his books. Another thing, Fred and Dobby's deaths are really heartbreaking for some of the fans (including me) but you can't expect that all the Death Eaters are killed while none of the friends of Harry Potter is harmed. That would be rubbish. And the last part, where the author tells what happened to Harry after 19 years, I think it's better that Rowling told us that after all the hardships, the pain and the trouble Harry suffered, he managed to live a happy life and experience to have a whole family. I really think J. K Rowling did a good job in this book. Anyway, peace to some of you. I just wrote my opinion... (^_^)

I didn't think that Book 7 was rubbish at all. I was happy that JK Rowling had the courage to write the story she originally intended to write. I believe that I would have been influenced to give the fans what they wanted. What makes the story so great ands entertaining is that there are things you are happy to see happen and things happen that you don't expect and things happen that you hate. It is after all Harry's story not ours.

I think, it was a very fine way to end a so complete serie. Of course, there has to be a couple loose ends - it allow us as readers to keep building on the story, keeps our fantasy alive. And if you think, it is rubbish - maybe, you have grown too fast to hold on to the universe. Try and read all the books from beginning to end - she has done a fantastic job with hints all along!

The book is called HARRY POTTER not HOGWARTS.! So why would they have to stay only at Hogwarts? Death would be to easy for them. i agree that some parts dragged on, but if you read past it, and didnt stop then maybe you would have liked it too, other than hating on it bcuz one boring part.! really??! Wow.
