This has to be in my top 5 favorite cookbooks. I love the way it is laid out...

This has to be in my top 5 favorite cookbooks. I love the way it is laid out month by month rather than grouped by category like other books. Before going to the farmers' market I have often flipped to the month in question to get ideas for seasonal recipes/ menus. Hesser's anecdotes about her year in France are the icing on the cake, although it's hard not to be incredibly jealous!

This is one of my favorite cookbooks, and I have quite a few! I love the inclusion of "peasant" dishes such as pappa al pomodoro, alongside fancier offerings. Just goes to show that "gourmet" cooking has more to do with the quality of ingredients than the price. I also love Judi's writing style; I think I practically read the book cover to cover when I first got it.

There are better baking books out there, but they're not Nigella! Although I own several books on baking that are techincally "better", I find myself returning to this time and again, especially for birthdays. I love how you can just hear her voice in your ear as she talks you through the recipes. In addition to the sweets, the miniature tomato and mushroom tarts are heavenly.

I have owned this cookbook for years and turn to it time and time again, not only for recipes but as a reference to ingredients (for example, what kind of beans to use in a certain recipe, or the flavor profile of a certain kind of chile). Everything I have made from this book has turned out great, and it has a nice variety of international recipes.

This is a great little book if you are planning a small cocktail or dinner party. I like the fact that she gives party planning tips as well as recipes. I made the quiche au cumin and it was a great success. The tuna/apple dip was a little funky though. Experienced cooks might find this book a little "light", but her enthusiasm is contagious.
