The Best Fantasy Books / Series

This series is awesome. Michael Stackpole is the man! A must read for fantasy lovers

Scott Lynch is definitely a new writer that is going to make a big career. This first book of the series is fantastic. George R.R. Martin seemed to really make this Gritty Fantasy genre start to boom, and Lynch is right up there showing that he is one of the top Gritty fantasy authors on the scene. The storylines are intricate, complex, and not easy to figure out. He throws in lots of twists and turns. He does a lot of well done flash back stuff that enhances the next chapter so you know what he is talking about and where the character is coming from. There are a lot of swear words and vulgar/crude type of jokes which I love, but you probably don't want to give this book to a 14 year old thats for sure

This is one of the best new fantasy book ever! This guy has an awesome original storyline blended with actual history. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a new style in fantasy

This series is AMAZING. Farland gives a whole new twist on the fantasy world. People are able to give their natural abilities like stamina, strength, vision, wit, grace and beauty as endowments to more powerful individuals like Kings but are in turn reduced in those areas leaving them crippled and needing protection. Raj Ahten is one of the most extreme badass bad guys that ever was. With thousands of endowments from people he is a beast in battle. All wounds heal instantly and a voice that can bend backs and break walls. Matched with such a great bad guy is the humble and non-destructive Prince Gaborn Orden who is bound to protect the Earth and the preservation of life. This book has great characters, great conflict, great new concepts and awesome battles. Farland's description of the 40+ metabolism Runelord battle is awesome since he talks about the physical limitations with such fast movements and everything. This book has great philosophical ideas as well. I can't wait to get started on the next books in the series.

This first trilogy is excellent. The second trilogy is good but not as powerful in my opinion. This series has a "anti-hero" for the main character where you don't like what he does and would do the opposite, but it is so well done. The philosophy of holding two things that are opposite of each other to be true at the same time makes this series one of my favorites

This book is awesome. I read the version where it was broken into two books and the author made slight revisions and it was amazing. This single book (or two books) is totally self contained if you want it to be. The ending is positive, and the characters are likeable. This isn't an epic fantasy, but it is a great classic fantasy series. This is one of the better fantasy novels that should be considered a staple in anybodies fantasy book collection. The idea of multiple dimensions and resource wars is great. Magic can be powerful but isn't thrown about like its free. The storyline moves fast but doesn't omit anything vital. The only thing I don't like is that one of the main characters' name is Pug. Just makes me think of the snorting little dogs, but oh well, his character is awesome. I like how this author took the fantasy ideas and concepts and applied higher level philosophical ideas to it. A must read

I love this series, even though I think the ending could be better, this series is one of my top 5 favorite fantasy series. I just wish Fitz didn't get screwed over constantly and never have anything good happen to him. Hobb needs to work on her endings, especially after you read 10,000 pages just to see your main character always get treated like crap
