    Gutter trash, so bang on target :) For me, this was a huge disappointment. Ivan Brunetti's work is usually painfully introspective and self-pitying. I defy you to read his best book, 'Misery Loves Comedy', without feeling a bizzare mix of pity, confusion, schadenfreude and utter disgust. This only get two stars, 'Misery...' gets five.

    I realised that i loved illustration and particularly graphic fiction enough to spend some time reading around the genre early last year, and can't believe it's taken me this long to read this classic. It has redefined what i will consider a graphic epic. It spans centuries, defies and redefines the (at the time) strict rules of structure, format and flow in comics and has a unique cinematic quality that is just incredible.     An interesting start to a series that shows promise, i think. The art is reminiscent of Jason with a more muted colour palette, and the stories of suburban teenage life brought to mind Bottomless Belly Button by Dash Shaw. The best short story of this book is printed in the inside front and back cover, and has the great, dry humour done so well by writers like Paul Hornschemeier.
