This book is awesome. I read the version where it was broken into two books and the author made slight revisions and it was amazing. This single book (or two books) is totally self contained if you want it to be. The ending is positive, and the characters are likeable. This isn't an epic fantasy, but it is a great classic fantasy series.
This is one of the better fantasy novels that should be considered a staple in anybodies fantasy book collection. The idea of multiple dimensions and resource wars is great. Magic can be powerful but isn't thrown about like its free. The storyline moves fast but doesn't omit anything vital. The only thing I don't like is that one of the main characters' name is Pug. Just makes me think of the snorting little dogs, but oh well, his character is awesome. I like how this author took the fantasy ideas and concepts and applied higher level philosophical ideas to it. A must read
I don't really go for the graphic novels, but when any movie comes out that is based on a book, I will always read the book first. My first foray into graphical novels was worth it. This novel is amazing! Everything about it is great, the characters, the storyline, the social commentary, everything. The movie was okay, but they dumbed the movie down a bit compared to this excellent story
This is some good classic stuff. I remember watching the Disney cartoon and loving it. Turns out the cartoon only follows a few of the chapters, and is pretty off from the book. The actual ending of the Mowgli story is AWESOME. His story is only like the first four or five chapters of the first book. The other chapters of the first book are about a white seal, elephant tamer, mongoose (rikki tikki), and a man who can hear animal speak. It is like a collection of short stories, and is a must for somebody who likes classics and good reads. Some of the stories can be fairly sad at times, but overall these stories are an excellent collection. I really enjoyed these books and think they are a vital piece in my classics collection
Goldin ends this great series really well. I like happy endings and this one definitely tied up all the loose ends nicely. I recommend this series
Really good, this series is great, I highly recommend
Goldin's series is addictive. This story really grows on you. It is fairly predictable most of the time, but it is still a really great story.
I enjoyed this book. Goldin's blend of Arabic culture and fantasy is a nice new style for me to get to read. I always like when somebody is told they have a big destiny and they are like... um no, I am just some regular guy that doesn't even know where to begin with that.
Overall this book was really good, it is a book that really sets up the rest of the series. The events that take place are fairly predictable but at the same time there are some twists and the plotline stays interesting.
The demons, monsters, and other characters are pretty interesting. The characters are developed in a way that makes you actually like them instead of just being plot movers. Although not necessarily the best book out there, it is a good read for any fantasy enthusiast looking for a little bit of eastern culture. Try it out!
This book is actually really good. The readibility factor is very high, the writing is smooth and it really desribes landscape ecology well
This book is only okay. It has a lot of figures and things that are nice but I don't feel like the examples really cover enough of the information to be able to really grasp the material
This book is really good. Similar to Mother Nature by Hrdy, this book really puts things into perspective when you look at the past we have come from.
