    An absolutely enjoyable book, finished it almost as quickly as 'The Curious Incident'. Hilariously British black comedy - some of the best I've ever encountered. It seemed very real to me - the characters were brilliant, and I really found myself connecting with them.

    I have to say, one chapter left me squirming in my seat as I read on the tube but I loved every second of it, in a morbid kind of way!

     
  • The Roads to Sata: A 2000-Mile Walk Through Japan

    I absolutely loved this book and would heartily recommend it to anyone with an interest in (particularly rural) Japan. Even though Alan embarked on his journey in the 70s it still provides a huge insight into the more traditional aspects of their culture today. Alan's book made me smile and laugh throughout - his writing style is faultless (as long as you can appreciate typical British humour).
